Glass Used: Highball
Recipe:
1.5 oz Bacardi Silver Rum
.75 oz Novo Fogo Sliver Cachaça
.5 oz Wild Hibiscus Syrup
.5 oz fresh squeezed Lime Juice
2 muddled cucumber slices
2 muddled watermelon slices
Directions:
Muddle 2 cucumber slices and 2 watermelon slices in a mixing glass. Fill glass with Crushed Ice. Add .5 oz of fresh squeezed lime juice (roughly equivalent to half of a fresh cut lime). Next add .5 oz of Wild Hibiscus Syrup. Add 1.5 oz of Bacardi Silver Rum and then .75 oz of Novo Fogo Silver Cachaça.
Shake vigorously 10x.
Pour all contents into a highball glass. Garnish with a Wild Hibiscus Rose Flower.
Garnish:
Place Wild Hibiscus Rose Flower directly in the middle of the cocktail in the highball glass over the crushed ice.
Inspiration:
When I lived in Portugal I was introduced to Cachaça. I learned it was integral in the Caipirinha drink.
Eventually I became obsessed with Brazil and when I think of Brazil I think of fresh fruit and beautiful fragrant flowers.
Frozen drinks remind me of the summer or tropical destinations (hence the choice of Bacardi Rum as my base)... Or visiting a place such as, oh say, BRASIL (enter the Cachaça)! Cucumber watermelon is an iconic summer pairing (in scents as well as drinks) and what better way to garnish a beautiful drink that is reminiscent of natural beauty and the summer than a beautiful flower? When I saw that a partner product contained a syrup derived from a beautiful flower, I decided to incorporate it as well.
And so you have Ma Vie En Rose. Which oddly, is a French movie named after one of my favorite songs. The first time I saw the movie was in Portugal. And thus, everything is tied together.
